The cockpit is coming together for this Academy 1/48 Spitfire Mk. XIVc. It’s not the best Spitfire kit available, but it’ll do for a Mk. XIV.
The kit cockpit is not really too bad, but as this is a commission model build, I decided to go with a resin cockpit. This one is from True Details. It’s certainly busier. They did sacrifice some accuracy, mainly in the area where the rudder pedals should “float” into the forward firewall/IP. But as it’s difficult to even see inside of the cockpit opening, I left it as is.
While it certainly improves the look, it is what I call “politician’s resin”. Lots of promise, but lacking in the delivery.
Of course, the seat is Ultracast, which is flawless as usual. Don’t build a Spitfire without an Ultracast seat!
