In Progress: Airfix’s 1/48 Spitfire Mk. I- Decals are on

Published on:

The decals are on Airfix’s new tool Spitfire Mk. I. I used a mix of the kit decals, and markings from Victory Productions 1/48 “Spitfire Aces of the Empire”, which is an absolute bargain. More than forty Spitfires for $30. Printed by Cartograph. That’s an unbeatable deal.

The kit decals weren’t bad, but the “Cartograph difference” was very obvious.

Next up comes the final weathering.

That’s interesting – so it’s a new tool kit and the kit decals aren’t by cartograph? I wonder why as cartograph have been doing the decals for Airfixs red boxes for years…

    Looks great Jon!

Thanks! The kit decals don’t note who manufactured them. They’re not bad, really- just not quite the same standard as the VP set. They may be Cartograph- maybe they have a “budget” option? I certainly don’t fault Airfix, though. I’d rather have the quality of the decals int he box and the more than reasonable price.
