Special Hobby’s 1/48 Il-10: The Worst Kit I Have Ever Built

I finally finished this kit.

It is- by a wide, wide margin- the worst kit I have ever built. The only reason I simply did not throw it away was because it was a commission build. In fact, I seriously considered refunding the customer their money, buying them a new kit, and sending them all that and the partially finished kit. The only reason I didn’t was because I did not have enough money to do so.

Now, it is build-able, obviously. But in my estimation, it’s simply not worth it. How Special Hobby releases a kit like this and still looks themselves in the mirror every day is beyond me. The instructions are vague, at best. No two parts fit together without considerable work. Some parts don’t fit at all, there simply isn’t enough physical space to cram it all in. I could write up a long explanation of how I did manage to build it, but basically, it’s not worth my time. If you want to build this kit- good luck. Have fun. I’m just glad to get it out of my house.

Now that it’s done, I’m taking a break from modeling for a while. Maybe a week. Maybe a month. I’m just glad to not have to look at this kit any more.
