Painting Operative Umbral-six

Painting Operative Umbral-six was a lot of fun. The figure is available to Warhammer+ subscribers as a free figure, or as a paid add-on. It can also be found on Ebay, though certainly at a premium price.

Initially I’d not really had much interest in the figure, but as I looked at it more over time, it grew on me. Realizing that I may as well take advantage of it through my Warhammer+ subscription, I ordered it.

Once I had it in hand and saw how nice the sculpt was, I was very happy with the choice.

The model is especially fun because of the variety of textures. The bronze statue, steel frame, and the figure’s uniform and equipment all allow for a variety of techniques. Though a bit to small to qualify as a diorama, the miniature’s posing on the statue gives it an impressive, action oriented look.

I briefly thought about trying to add it to a larger diorama, but realized that time simply would not permit it. But even as it is, I was quite happy with how the model turned out.
