First Flight: Boeing’s T-X Entrant Takes To The Air

Boeing’s T-X entrant took to the air for the first time on December 21st. Reports indicate the 55 minute flight went smoothly. I’m quite sure there will be more upcoming videos of additional test flights.

Boeing has a lot to gain- and lose- in this T-X competition. With no more new fighter contracts likely to emerge from the USAF or US Navy for a while, Boeing really needs this project to make sure its St. Louis facility keeps working. (Although the incoming Trump administration has done some corporate saber rattling by asking Boeing for some numbers on additional Super Hornets.)

In any event, the competition for the next generation jet fighter trainer should be interesting.
