Here are a few interesting videos about the Air Force’s Advanced Pilot Training (APT) Family of Systems (FoS) program, commonly referred to as “T-X”.
The first one is an interview with a VP from BAE Systems about their view on the program. BAE is teamed with Northrop Grumman to develop an entry for the program. Initially, the plan had been to submit a variant of the reliable (but older) BAE Hawk airplane. However, after viewing the USAF’s requirements for T-X, they decided to start over with a “clean sheet” design. I believe this video was taken before that decision. Still, it is an interesting insight into the contractor’s perspective.
The second video is an interview with Maj. Gen. Michael A. Keltz, Commander, 19th Air Force, who is in charge of (among other things) training jet pilots. His comments are certainly PR approved, but give a very good look into the Air Force’s view on the T-X program.
