In Progress: Hobbyboss’ 1/48 Hellcat Mk. I

During our Christmas vacation, we visited my son, who lives in San Antonio. While there, I stopped by Hill Country Hobby. I’d heard great things about this shop, and I am happy to confirm the reports- it’s a great little shop.

While there, I picked up a Hellcat Mk. I. I’ve always liked the Fleet Air Arm colors, and the price was right. Plus I had a fresh, unused gift card from my father-in-law. The perfect storm, so to speak.

I’ve completed the cockpit. It’s nicely detailed, I think. It’s a bit fiddly to get together. I found in easier to glue the seat in place on the floor, and then adjust it to the rear bulkhead. It also seemed easier to place the small “shelf” part on the throttle side of the cockpit in place after getting the IP/bulkhead/sidewall unit in place.  I threw in some Eduard PE belts.

So far it’s a nice kit, and I’m looking forward to painting it.
