In Progress: Airfix’s 1/48 Spitfire Mk. I

Published on:

The paint is on the new tool Spitfire Mk. I from Airfix. It’s basically the Mk. Vb kit, with an A wing and a few other bits to allow the Mk. I/II variants to be modeled. It’s very good kit. I have found that fully assembling the landing gear from the beginning makes it easier to deal with the odd two part gear strut arrangement.

The markings for this model will depict R. S. Tuck’s Spitfire Mk. I from the Dunkirk/early BoB time frame. It was one of the early ones that had the aluminum under surfaces, later repainted with the black/white wing for recognition purposes.
